You and I have had this discussion before. Bush (neither one) is really a Repub dedicated to their platform of smaller less intrusive government. They both governed as Democrats, which is why I left the Party and joined the Constitution Party.
We've been governed as a Marxist Nation since the Emergency Banking Act of 1933, followed by the Social Security Act of 1935. Progressives, starting with Teddy Roosevelt (Repub) expanded government to invade private lives in 1900. Woodrow Wilson (Dem) turned us from a Republic to being a Democracy (Mob Rule) thru the 17th Amendment, and started us toward Marxism thru the 16th Amendment. FDR rocketed it into motion thru the New Deal, much of which even his own Party of the time saw as Unconstitutional, and the Supreme Court stopped much of. His hand-picked advisor was Alger Hiss, who wrote the UN Charter and was later convicted of being a Soviet Spy. LBJ expanded citizens to believe they have a sense of Entitlement.
Carter opened eyes thru his bumbling, and Reagan slowed expansion of the Marxist Agenda for a time, showing how when people are allowed to keep more of their own money, the economy expands. Even he expanded government, giving in to the Dems dream to turn us Marxist.
Both Bushes were Dems in reality, economic failures when they allowed a Dem Congress to follow Comrade Pelosi. Which leads us to Obama, and government having a share or stake in every company, every private life. Making Government god-- The Protector, The Decider, The Provider. He fundamentally changed the fabric of America. We were founded on Individual Freedom, asking God to provide for us. Now Government is god. To save YRC, the Economy needs saving. The only way to do that, at this point, is to dump taxing income, go with the Fair Tax! Coming Environment Laws like Cap and Trade will further destroy our once great economy.....then where will you work?
Is 1 Billion gonna make any impact? Key word is "relieve", but the problem still will remain. Need to be profitable and have assets to succeed.

Again, political, but true. Obama came into a finacial crisis, and is using tax money, not to save the economy, but to expand government. Rahm Emanual (White House Chief of Staff) said as much "We can't waste a good crisis". He'll use taking over Teamster and UAW Pensions/HealthCare as an excuse for Socialist HealthCare. When has Government run anything efficiently, other than the Military?

YRCW does not pay for all of the ORPHANS, their payments go to the funds and the funds pay out to them. A smaller than half of YRCW payments go to us ORPHANS. There is no way in hel we should stand to be given away to the goverment, The funds were set up for all to enjoy to the last drop, not dispose of some, of us. Evan if YRCW was to go under, their would still be funds available to us for some years, BEFORE the gov would take it over. The funds would not want the gov to take over, because the gov would want compete control of the funds to the very last penny. MAYBE THE OLD GOAT FROM ATLANTA WILL HELP EXPLAIN THIS FOR US. It was explained last year that if YRC closed, much of the Locals had equity involved that would have to be sold to pay for the pension shortfall. That would pretty much be the end of the Teamsters......
I no longer work for YRC, but am too rooting for their survival so I can collect my 22 year Pension. I just don't see it happening....
Please explain to me what was so bad with our economy (other then the last four months) when the Bush Administration was in charge? The unemployment rate average about 4.5% a year for the eight years he was in office. We received tax cuts, tax rebate, and our economy grow for almost seven straight years! Again I ask you what was wrong with our economy under his plan?:smilie_132:

I remember the Jimmy Carter Days very well . My Dad had a small country store and we had gas pumps. My Dad would call the house to tell me the truck was coiming to fill the tanks. ( We would be out of gas) When the Tanker came up the road there would be a line of cars behind it. I would pump gas for over a hour and this was just a little country store on a backroad.

If they give TARP funds to YRC I don't understand why every company in bad shape wouldn't go begging hat in hand. I know a pizza shop in my town that could use some help so could Bobs Trucking I bet.
Bush signed the first bail out for the Fanny May and Freddie Mack Bunch. That was wrong. BUT other than that, the only thing wrong was the Left Wing Media not wanting a Right Wing President. The News Media told one lie after another to trash him and also our Military. I hate to say this because I love my Country but here it goes. Funny thing you liberals don't understand little things like tax breaks. Just remember it's not they're money until they steal it from us. A tax break is just a reduction in the taxes to be paid, for a set amount of time. this creates jobs!!!

i dont think the current administration had anything to do with the manufacturing problems...i believe that all started when nafta was implimented....and go ahead and tell me how clinton signed it in...if bush sr. would have had the time he would have done it his self...our manufacturing problems occured when the borders got opened...businesses found an opportunity for cheap labor and they took it...
in my opinion i'd like to see the teamsters themselves go to the government to bailout the pension funds nation wide...
ever read about railroad retirement??...that was created because of the same thing happening to the railroad industry and their retirment plan....by the way...last time i checked they were funded til 2050...and NO i am not saying i want the government to take over our retirment...just throwing the fact that they bailed out a transportation industrys pension before
