Read that yesterday.

If nothing else, FS is definitely "battle hardened"
He is not a fool, or a Johnny come lately. He's been in the game as long, and has fought as hard as anyone.
I honestly think he believes what he's saying. He's about to step down, and I don't think he would do so, if he thought his legacy would just end up being a failed company.
Hopefully, he's right.

In case you missed it... From the FedEx Daily News:

FedEx Freight Direct (FXFD), our e-commerce delivery solution, is expanding. As of Jan. 29, FedEx Freight Direct Basic and Basic by Appointment services are available at all FedEx Freight service centers.

“After two successful rollouts and the addition of Target to our growing customer list, we are proud to expand select FedEx Freight Direct services to all U.S. centers,” Ken Frith, SVP FedEx Freight Direct and International, said. “We’ve received great feedback from our customers over the last few months, and we know that the new centers will continue to deliver the Purple Promise.”

There are four services currently available in the FXFD portfolio: Basic, Basic by Appointment, Standard and Premium. These service levels were designated after carefully studying the industry and working closely with customers and operations team members.

• Basic – To the door service that does not include an appointment. Delivery is to the front door, back door or garage door with photo capture of the delivery (where the technology is available).

• Basic by Appointment – To the door service that includes an appointment. Delivery is to the front door, back door or garage door that includes an appointment and signature.

• Standard – Through the door service into the first available space.

• Premium – Delivery into the customer's room of choice.

“Basic and Basic by Appointment services are similar to the residential delivery service we perform today,” Ken said.

I think he's right. It's easier to duplicate what Amazon has to offer than it is to duplicate what FedEx has to offer. And just about every company (large and small) wants/needs to fight back against Amazon. Smart move, long term.

And while Amazon.com has obviously grown VERY quickly, theyre about to hit a wall with what they can offer.

Nabbing Target is a huge win for FxF and Direct
