I’ll tell you guys I was by the book on pre-trips and post-trips up until my last day at SAIA. I always hated it when I did a pre-trip in the morning and I had a flat on one of my trailer tires that a fellow city driver failed to catch on his post-trip the preceding day. I hated having to go to the shop to change that tire and then getting a late start on my route. Almost always a new guy to blame although I must say I’ve failed to catch a few things in my earlier years, especially on Fridays. What got me towards the end before I retired was forgetting to remove a chock I placed at a customers dock. Sometimes I’d roll right over it and other times I’d feel it and get out and remove it. Some chocks are solid rubber or metal and those I would for sure catch. I’ll tell you what pissed me off more than just about anything was guys that would roll over them and know it but just keep on going. I would at least get out of my truck and place the chock in it’s appropriate spot. I’ve seen new guys drag those solid rubber ones almost a block and never even know it. I hated to get out of my truck and remove a chock someone else rolled over. You could hear me cussing a mile away.Knuckle is so old like me I even caught him doing post trips,,, todays generation can’t even walk to back to take lock off trailer

True, but it’s really just the principle. He’s not to good to wait in line like everyone else. It’s like cheating IMO. Like cutting in line on Black Friday trying to get in first for the best deals. Like running up on the freeway in an right turn only lane and cutting over at the last minute when you know damn good an well the lane is going to play out. Everybody else is waiting there turn. It just rubs me the wrong way.No point in getting upset, you were getting paid by the hour...

If I’m in my car and can get in front of those damn truck drivers that are fully loaded and taking forever to get up to speed I will do a California stop too. If I’m on a two lane farm to market road with several red lights along the way I will pass those slow bastards.
