FedEx runs into trouble in China again

https://seekingalpha.com/news/3496276-fedex-runs-trouble-china?dr=1#email_link

"Xinhia says FedEx (NYSE:FDX) is being accused in China of illegally handling a package with restricted types of knives.

The state-run news agency reports the items were temporarily detained before being sent to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

FedEx has had several issues in the region this year with packages and is seen as a candidate for China's new "unreliable entity list.""

Nearly $1 million verdict in employment retaliation case affirmed

https://www.natlawreview.com/articl...nt News&utm_source=Robly.com&utm_medium=email

"Legal elements of a retaliation claim
To prevail on a claim of retaliation, a plaintiff must establish the following elements:

  • They engaged in protected activity that was known to the employer;

  • Employer took an adverse employment action against the employee, such as termination; and

  • Protected activity caused the adverse employment action"
Key takeaways
"...Under Title VII and certain related statutes, employees must show that the employer would not have taken the adverse action, “but for” the retaliatory motive. Although the motive to retaliate against an employee for their protected activity need not be the sole cause of the action, the employee must show that, absent their protected activity, the employer would not have taken action against them..."

Industry leaders fed up with tit-for-tat trade war

https://www.dcvelocity.com/articles/20190905-industry-leaders-fed-up-with-tit-for-tat-trade-war/

"The announcement, which came on the heels of a new round of tariffs on Chinese goods that took effect September 1, prompted an immediate response from the National Retail Federation (NRF), reiterating its plea for officials to end the trade war that began in January 2018."

NOT exactly accurate. Trade war has been going on for decades. We only started participating (fighting back) in 2018.

It seems that DC Velocity has become more and more suspect in their reporting. Just last week they "broke the news" that FXFE was testing "Direct".

Also worth noting, NFR cares about one thing - RETAIL SALES. If the U.S.A. getting ripped off helps them, nothing else matters to them, IMHO.

Spotting a fire truck ahead is easy for people, not so for autonomous vehicles

https://www.fleetowner.com/autonomo...9768d21846f69c86c5cb489c116f&utm_source=26402

"To the human driver, it would have been an obvious obstacle: a police car and fire truck, emergency lights blazing, blocking the lane ahead.

But to the Tesla Inc. Model S traveling down a Southern California freeway last year on Autopilot, it was a far more vexing technical challenge..."
Yet more proof that this technology is not anywhere near ready to replace human drivers.

Volvo Debuts ‘Dynamic Steering’ in North America

"Other VDS features include a return-to-center function that enables the steering wheel to return to the center position when the vehicle is in motion, which can help drivers maneuver in reverse or in tight areas."

THAT could really help a new (inexperienced) driver, IMHO. Otherwise, it seems like just another safety item that can fail.
