I would love to see universal healthcare...and we could pay for it, if we didn't need basic infrastructure, the military and social security. The problem with healthcare is the FDA. It requires impossible standards for approval of new drugs, which inflates the price of said. And then the consumer blames the pharmacy company for the price of the drug, instead of the company that researched it and tried to develop it.
Do you how much we spend on the military complex?

Way too much! It’s ridiculous. This is corporate welfare on a military level.

I’ll say it over and over until we see change.

Every one of us is one major illness, one cancer, one major accident away from bankruptcy. EVEN with your current coverage. EVEN in our glorious first world country.

Until THAT changes I will not change my mind regarding socialized healthcare. MANY others feel the same way. It is a legitimate concern that needs addressed. I have seen ZERO on how to fix that.
Once upon a time, charitable organizations helped those truly in need. Local charities could recognize the difference between slackers and those in need through no fault of their own. Government, on the other hand, doesn't know (or care) the difference.

Even today, donations help many. Do you contribute to such causes? I only ask because you seem to want others to donate, by force, via Government mandate.

This has to be a joke, right?

Sorry Jane, I know you about died in the car accident that wasn’t your fault and we had to medi-vac you and put you on life support. Your bill is hundreds of thousands of dollars so here are some local charities...

Okay bro.

Oh yeah, since you asked I helped a women’s domestic abuse shelter about a year ago. You?

UPS Drones Win FAA Milestone Permission to Operate

https://www.ttnews.com/articles/ups-drones-win-faa-milestone-permission-operate

"UPS Inc. won U.S. certification to fly drones under regulations similar to those for airlines, a milestone that allows the company to vastly expand airborne deliveries.

The Federal Aviation Administration gave the courier permission to use delivery drones at hospital, university and corporate campuses with few restrictions, for example, letting operators fly the aircraft at night and over people."

"Earlier this year, Wing became the first drone operator to be certified as an air carrier by the Federal Aviation Administration, allowing it to deliver commercial goods to recipients that may be miles away. Wing’s pilot program in Virginia will be conducted as part of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Unmanned Aircraft System Integration Pilot Program (IPP)."

CEO John Smith Steers FedEx Freight Toward E-Commerce Growth

https://www.ttnews.com/articles/ceo-john-smith-steers-fedex-freight-toward-e-commerce-growth

"Our strategy is to put a service out there that, in our opinion, is not available today. That means a FedEx uniformed driver, and an assistant, if needed, with a FedEx truck, on a FedEx freight bill. Completely done with FedEx, with a technology that we feel is going to differentiate us from the marketplace. We feel strong about our brand, our footprint, our network and how this will give several existing and new customers a service they never had before and, in our opinion, an advantage."

Lot's more info, worth knowing (if you didn't already), in this interview...

Why am I NOT surprised by your flippant response? NOT surprising is the fact that activists rarely sacrifice their own time and labor to the cause, but rather expect others (everyone) to contribute by force.

Your ignorance on the topic is striking, especially since you seem so passionate about it.

Yes George, people do contribute SIGNIFICANT amounts to charities that pay for otherwise un-affordable treatments/care. The areas of charitable "assistance" is almost endless. Do some research - YOUR contribution would be much appreciated, I'm certain.

What you will learn, if you pay attention, is that there are many solutions that are far SUPERIOR to any Government solution. Meanwhile, look to (and participate in) private sector solutions, before looking for Government to mandate for your cause.

Here's a couple of examples (in just one sector) to show that NO, this is NOT a Joke.

Why do people always go to the most extreme versions of hypothetical events to make a point?

Did Jane have auto insurance? That's what it's for.

So you post three children centers and think you’re good? No even close.

Oh, and I am still waiting to hear who you help?

I still find it extremely odd that you guys are okay with a death sentence of debt. And when those people get that debt you say “go see a charity...”

Worst solution ever.

Try to keep up, George. We must work on comprehension. Note that I mentioned "a couple of examples (in just one sector)". You see, that means there are more, in most every sector.

So you care about who I help? I shouldn't, but I will tell you I write 4 (sometimes 5) checks per month, to support charities that I BELIEVE IN. Likely NOT causes you believe in. That's the beauty of freedom. Why should I be forced to support your cause?
a death sentence of debt

Oh, the drama. In the U.S.A., there is no such thing (death sentence of debt). Unlike some of your Socialist utopias. Just saying...

????
How ya figure that? Oh, I see, you've got nothing... :36:

Last one George. I do hope I was wrong on my" guess" that you are in leadership. Sympathy would go out to anyone reporting to you. If you are in leadership, I'll bet you are a weak/poor one, who wonders why. I give you facts, you reply with opinion. Opinion based on bias, ignorance, or perhaps pulled from thin air. You won't say.

Carry on young George. Should be my last keystroke, wasted on you :wavey:. Besides, you have some explaining to do, right?

LOL.

I know you're the “fearless leader” on trucking boards that your followers look up to but I’m not buying your BS.

The “go to a charity” is a sorry ass solution for the mountains of debt one receives from medical bills.

And LOL regarding my position / title at work. If you only knew...

I have a real question here for you, George. Hear me out .

Right now I have my tax deductions set up as a single person, even though I have a family. Reason being, I don't want to get a surprise IRS bill. Roughly 25% of my check goes to taxes. My bennies (maxed 401k , disability etc) cost about 100 a week. After I pay all my bills and buy all the necessities I don't have much left. I live paycheck to paycheck. Most of the country does.

Here's my question: if I live paycheck to paycheck, how do I survive the tax hike that would be necessary to implement your plan of single payer health care? Nobody has ever been able to answer this for me. They deflect and tell me "the right thing to do" and bring up irrelevant points like military spending. Am I supposed to be ok with paying for somebody else' issues? Is it my fault that person decided to live off of McDonald's and cheez doodles? When does personal responsibility take over?

The problem isn't wanting to help people. That's great, but people have to be willing to help themselves first.
