XPO | WTF the Teamsters are OUT of Miami !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Teamcare is a big deal but the pension does not have to be pension in what we are use to in the traditional sense . It can be an enhanced 401 k for instance with a negotiated match. Your thinking inside of the box .( no disrespect)

I personally don't care about either, but I think it has to be on the table if you want to cast the net far enough for unionization to happen on a wide enough scale for the union to have the advantage. Did they ever survey people to see what they wanted?

That will never happen. If they ever asked that question it would lead drivers to think there’s a possibility of something more . That would be dangerous for a company.

Company shouldn't have a day on unions surveying members. If the union isn't gauging the needs and wants of it's members before negotiating there is no point in having one.

XPO has done many surveys. Have you ever seem the results?
The other problem is to many only care about hourly rate. So they give them the hourly rate then reach around with the other hand and take stuff away, like PTO, Bonus, and then add a higher healthcare cost. Yes your hourly rate is higher the ABF, but out of your hr rate you have to pay into a health plan and fund your retirement they don't

The FMCSA has a 'coercion rule' where a driver cannot be forced to operate unsafe equipment or perform an unsafe dispatch. I blame drivers for operating unsafe trucks..
Oh, Ok so you wont driver that truck OK. One week later " hey Puff Driver you have to many damages your service are no longer need" What govt alphabet agency covers retaliation??? Now prove it??
Yes it is illegal to not a hire a pregnant woman because see is pregnant, but it's done all the time, She just didn't meet our qualification..

XPO (formerly ConWay) was started by the unionized Consolidated Freightways as a non union entity. CF closed their doors in the early 2000's. ConWay (XPO) had to pay millions of dollars to the out of work CF workers a number of years later. CF closed over a weekend. Recently XPO hired the VP of Ops away from ODFL (a notoriously anti labor company). Years ago ODFLs Philadelphia terminal voted the teamsters in. ODFL ended up closing the Philadelphis terminal down and reopened in Pennsauken NJ. Hmmm?

What most don't know is CCX in the NE was at on time a union carrier. Con-way back then bought a company call Penn-Yan Express which was union.

And that company was called CEX, Con-Way Eastern Express.

The ONLY promises made were dignity and respect in the workplace, which was Attractive, as we had neither under the current and past management. We were made aware of the economic benefits enjoyed by union companies...however, none of that was promised. It was made clear by our organizers and business agents that we would need many more terminals on board to have any chance at Teamcare, OT after 8, etc. The campaign was in full force back then with the hope that West Palm, Pompano, Ft. Pierce, Tampa and Orlando might pull the trigger. All we really needed was Orlando and our bargaining power would have increased 100 fold. Just never happened.

There is no government agency that can approach the protections in a union contract.

I meant a survey by the teamsters to see what the employees wanted converted in negotiations and proposals submitted by employees.
There were many contract proposal meetings. Everyone was aware of what we wanted, but more importantly, we were all aware of what we could reasonably expect to get. Teamcare is a gift to a driver paying 125.00 a week for inadequate coverage for a family of 4, but you should also know it was never promised.

If a driver is discharged after a coercion event there is a battery of lawyers who will easily take that case. In addition to USDOL WHistleblower laws.
