Yellow | Absenteeism Papers

The absenteeism problem isn't with the 60 yr olds where I'm at, they are the ones that show on time everyday, it's the junior men taking time off to do their side work(landscaping, snow plowing, remodeling etc) heck we have one guy that owns a Courier Service and books off whenever he's busy...............That's great I'm all for starting your own business and chasing the American dream but when that's the case don't be upset if there are repercussions. When your side job starts to interfere with your full time job maybe it's time to make some changes.

Truth be told the main reason those guys with the side jobs keep working here is for the benefits they don't have to pay.

Yeah, I'm sure those 6 are the only ones. We've got about a hundred at Da Heights.

I I can think one one more at your location.all that time you spend watching and probably running to mgt.with reports is not your job.jump the fence if thats your thing.

The ONLY side job I have is responding to dedicated and punctual meesters such as yourself.

"Boohoo, mean old YRCF is going to punish me for taking off when ever I feel like it"!
How dare them tell me when and how long to be at work. :Violin::duh:

seems like the east coast or where ever i was at you we allowed to book off for 48 hours once every 31 days .and it was never a problem with man hours .
thats a big hit to guys who have had this for years

There's no question that for a few the attendance policy will cause hardship. However for the majority, it will be of little concern.
Longblade, when I started a 309 road driver could go "out of service" for up to 72 hours every 60 days. With no discipline. Abuse was rampant and soon that priveledge was gone.

Hmm, you still are on the East Coast just a little farther south:biglaugh:

If, AND that's a BIG if, your attendance is good then why do you cry so much? Perhaps you should confine your inane comments to subjects with which you are familiar.
BTW unlike you, my "dunce cap" doesn't fit as well as your's. How does it feel to fill one of those pointed hats up COMPLETELY!:eck13:

Again you dunce you know nothing of me or my work attendance or ethic. As for your stupid little comment about a pointed hat, you must have dented yours in when you went under mgts. desk to give a snitch report. Idiot.

I have an issue with this as a fellow brother put in a vacation to book off a month in advance. He doesn't have the days to take off (va-ca wise) but wants to be excuse w/o pay for the two days. There is a once in a lifetime event as his kid is graduating from boot camp next month. Management denied his request even when he explained the situation with this issue. Now if it was me I would still go to attend this event cause it was requested a month in advance and management has an issue with this brother.
Is this fair treatment or is this payback for us voting this last MOU in that there will be the destruction of the NMFA cause they can do what they want to do without any recourse???

So where do we stand on birthdays or marking off early for a doctors appt, or do I come in 1/2 hr late to make that appt and not take lunch. I got guys who are veterans who go to the VA alot for there medical issues and if you know the VA if you miss an appt it'll be months before you get another. I'm rambling here but if I go to the dr about an aliment and then he refers me to a specialist and give me a consul then I just burned two days and not to think that I need a follow up after that (3 days now). Just saying:(

So much, for mitigating circumstances. I'm sure his branch of service has a newspaper circulated on base, maybe a nice letter to the editor. When he does get to see his son please pass-on my family's thanks for his service.
ps maybe a letter to his house rep. and senator might help too. good luck to him

He should attend the event. Smaller local newspapers are always are happy to give a little coverage. Have him take a couple photos and submit them. With the so called clean slate, he should only get a verbal. If through unfortunate circumstances he is facing suspension ANY committee should disregard that absence. As far as progression is concerned.
Good Luck!

Thanks for the input brothers i appreciate that helpful info. Shouldn't have to come down to that but this is what we have to work with. I love my job hate my boss, I take care of my customers- company doesn't take care of me, I work O/T to move the freight-company punishes me for being a minute late. Gave YRC part of my life only to be stabbed in the back with a knife but I won't go down without a fight not to mention I lost my pension. I love this job...:wee::wee::wee:

This reminds me of the movie The longest yard where the warden tells the guards to inflict as much pain is as humanly possible on the convicts after Burt Reynolds agrees to throw the game. You CAN take off if your ill or fatigued. YOU and 61% agreed they could write you up and fire ALL of us for it. Does the term scared sheep mean anything to you?

Uh? What in hell makes you think I voted yes?
