FedEx Freight | Fed ex insurance and joke of a raise

I think i know this Albert. It's not being cocky if you can back it up.
Your arrogance is unbelievable ... Your humility is nonexistent. I consider myself an excellent driver. Probably the best of the best. I have had 40+ years of getting it right. Perfect DAC ... MVR ... CSA ... But you will never hear me brag (except for this one instance) about it. Because of this thing called humility. As good as I am. I understand that one twist of fate can change everything. Hell, just one accident that's considered gross negligence and your done. Don't you understand that these things happen to even the most professional drivers. I give thanks everyday to the man upstairs that my day was safe. Many other things can cost a man his job. I just used that as an example. I don't care how good you think you are. You can be brought down in the blink of an eye. Yes "crazy" in a New York minute.

My wife went to a joint specialist for an injection yesterday. Our part of it was $760 and they asked if we could pay $150 the day of the injection but it was not required. We have decent insurance. The choice plan is the way to go for us. It's cheap enough premium wise that by the time we use the HSA money we get every year and then pay 30% of the allowed amount that can be charged, we come out money ahead of the family plan that we had 3 yrs ago that cost us $272 a month .

We have a driver who's wife had to have an injection in her hip....thanks to Obummercare's transparency clause, the first statement she received was the bill sent from the hospital to insurance for the sum of around $3,200...and of course they freaked out not realizing that this wasn't a bill for them. After insurance worked their magic and negotiated the price, a month and a half later they received a bill for $130!!!
We have another driver who's doctor scheduled him an ultrasound at the hospital. After calling to see how much the hospital was going to charge for the ultrasound, $1,200, he searched around on his own and found another place who would do the same procedure for $320!!! After insurance worked their magic, he ended up paying next to nothing for everything!!
What Obummercare has done is to force the employees to search for lower cost procedures which in turn saves us money in the long run...employees now have to learn to shop around for the best deal when concerning healthcare procedures just like we would when we purchase any other product. We shouldn't just go where the doctor/specialist schedules your procedure because most of the time the doctor is getting a kickback, shop around and I'm certain you can find a better deal elsewhere which results in savings for the employee...or a kickback for us!!

Great advice. Thanks, Red.

During my 30 years in the workforce, every company I have worked for has made decisions that get me scratching my head including those companies that I thought were great. It happens to all of us.

What I grow tired of is the people who find fault with each and every decision this company or any other makes and perceive that every decision is designed as an attack on them personally.

We have a number of people like that both on here and at my barn. While I know it is their overinflated ego talking, I simply get tired of hearing it. You know the type. When they speak (or post) you can see the eyes of everyone else begin to roll.........

You are correct. But things take time. I like and respect you. I do not like the "crazy" one. He's deserves to be fired. You deserve a promotion. Your level headed approach makes you an asset to this company. I won't argue your point. Give it time brother Swamp. It's really just a matter of time.
Thanks Train. Not really worthy of all that, but thanks :encouragement:

I agree that time may EVENTUALLY bring us up to the industry standard, for the region. The problem with time is, it is one thing that we have a limited supply of. While patience is considered a virtue, to a point, too much patience can also be misinterpreted as a sign of weakness.

On the other side, as too much time passes, the integrity of the process becomes questionable, as does the (stated) ongoing nature thereof.

As a casual observer, it's interesting/promising/surprising to watch the evolution.

Im sorry but we are in a sad state of affairs when you have to shop around for healthcare because our insurance is bad. I have known my family doctor for years even hangout, he would not send me to someone he wouldn't go to himself. Your kickback theory is illegal he sends his patients to the best not someone who does surgery in the alley behind dollar General. You can cheap on alot of things in life but im sorry im not going to cheap on healthcare my family means more than a couple dollars to me.

Yet this is the reality we live in thanks to Obummercare, it's not just our insurance.
No one said you had to have a "surgery in an alley behind Dollar General", I was referring to injections, ultrasounds, and perhaps MRI's, x-Rays, etc....just sayin' there are cheaper alternatives than hospitals...most clinics that your Doctor is associated with will provide these same services for a fraction of the cost than the hospital charges. Hospitals carry massive overhead cost whereas a clinic doesn't, it's not rocket science.
We ALL have to do our part to help reign in the cost of healthcare, if you choose continue to overpay for services when there's a reliable, cheaper, alternative, then don't bitch when your premiums continue to rise!!

Why would I want to pay 2.39 for a gallon of gas when just right across the street it's 1.99 ? Same principle involved here. BTW it didn't take that gas station very long to lower their prices once they realized no one was going to buy their gas at that ridiculous price.
