Warden M
Some drivers were followed today. Is that a normal M policy?
Some drivers are talking about quiting now. They had it too good for too long. Now they have to do their job and it is taking a toll on them. The dock guys (day re-ship) were told not to be taking breaks, like they have been used to for the last number of years, and only take their 30 minute lunch. Maybe we should open a prison...
Are you saying that "M" would make a good warden? CCA (corrections corporation of america) has pretty much got the private prison industry wrapped up. Not that you couldn't go ahead and try to open one up, but if you think Con-way has a lot of rules and regulations, try running a prison. I know first hand as I was a corrections officer for a few years. The pay sucks, and dealing with inmates is a whole other ball game.
As far as breaks go I think your dock guys are SOL (you're in Texas right?)
The following states have laws or administrative orders requiring most private employers to provide their non-exempt employees with a short paid rest break every four hours:
California, Colorado, Kentucky, Minnesota, Nevada, Oregon, Washington.
In most of these states, the required break is to be scheduled, where practicable, in the middle of the four-hour period. All of the states, except for Minnesota, specify that the break is to last 10 minutes. Minnesota law declares that the break is to be long enough to provide the employees with adequate time to use the nearest restroom facilities. Washington law specifies that an employee may not be required to work for more than a three-hour period without a rest break. I would encourage them to contact their local wage and hour division of the local Texas Labor office to make sure. Best of luck y'all........eeeeeeeehaw!!
