ODFL | Time for a PENSION PLAN AT OD

Just saying.I really burn me that you&other's from other LTL's forum's troll &put comment's &start thing's on here.Has for the ABF moving thing that was started.It just bad taste to start thing's that you&other's have no Idea what you are even talking about.I stop responding to the other site's because of rules.I only respond in a good way if I decide to.Has for the troll that started this topic he was banned in the first day of starting the topic.I do not agree with non OD member's coming on here &starting thing's that they just want to stir up because they are unhappy about there work place.Maybe if you look close you never see a neg. topic started about OD.Just like the topic that was started on Abf about the Ceo of OD making more money than some lady at ABf.Please,talk about unhappy employee's.The CEO of OD is the owner&the Congdon Family have jumped the ditch's during the bad time's.So they spread the profit's through the company for upgrade's,etc.It's there company&they can pay themselves what they want to&you don't hear no complaining from there employee's&We has employee's love working for such a great company&i take it personal when someone decides to start something they have no clue what they are talking about.You&everyone have the right to choose who they want to work for.If the employee's at OD were so unhappy about the way we are treated then we have the right to take it to Corporate&take care of the problem.Just saying.

Compared to the teamsters at UPS, who only get $100 per year from the company, OD employees received 10 times in their retirement plan than the teamsters.
Seems like a no-brainer to me.

Um ok. UPS's plan pays $100 per month times the years of service. A 30 year employee would collect $3000 per month on their pension. That is what that means. In actuality UPS is paying over $100 per week into each employee's retirement. They don't CONTRIBUTE $100 per year.

I guess I'll be the voice of reason here a pension can be a great thing to have,However realistically speaking pensions are quickly becoming a relic of the past,many companies that have them are buying their way out of them(as my ex's employer did)or simply liquidating them.One of the major problems facing traditional pensions is the ratio of active employees to retirees,with retirees far outnumbering active employees you don't need a math degree to tell you thats not sustainable for the long term,even an expanding company like OD sooner or later is going to slow,or stop adding new employees,either because of operational improvements or market saturation.Furthermore It would take the bravest(or foolish)management on this planet to even propose a pension scheme to the board of directors,its just simply not gonna happen!!
 
i have done alot of reading on this board , and i got to say you guys at o.d, take the kool aid drinking to a whole new level,!!! none of my bussines , but i'm glad that there are millions of americans that still fighting for the middle class...think of your future and your family

i cant believe this thread has been going for this long. i guess some dont know what its like to work for a good company and then actually like to go to work. i wont ever have to worry about those union thugs telling me what to do. od is doing just fine. but being that the unions are so great you can see how they have worked out for the trucking companies i mean how many are there 5 out of 1000s of trucking companies. then of coarse there is the wonderful teacher union you can just see how great they are i mean ask them in California they protected the teacher and hurt the children did you hear the unions comming out against that no. then of coarse there are the auto workers yes we gave them billions of dollars and they stilled failed. yep the unions are where i want to be.

socialist propaganda !!!! i dont think so .. whats wrong with having a nice pension plan, great benefits, good contract with good working conditions , overtime pay ,aniversary pay ,birthday pay , i hope i'm not pushing the limits here but just want to tell you the good news to be a proud teamster...peace...

Really~ I thought if you perform the same work regardless what area you live in you should all be paid equally....(JMO) but I guess the Kool-Aid must taste better. Be safe and Happy Trails!!
