The meeting in CGO was 3-1-08, and the guys here did like what they heard. Now don't come back at me with your smart___ remarks, I'm just telling you what I heard from someone who was acually there. The guys here are not happy with UPS not matching the 401K anymore and they were told, UPS is not maching the 401K anymore. The new rules WILL stay in place. And negs. will not be terminal by terminal. Every terminal is getting the Indy contract, and UPS is standing firm on these issues and that's it. Yeah, oh, boy, welcome to the Teamsters......NOT. I can see the war coming now. Oh, and let me say this also, Nightwalker is not on here alot, because he's sick right now with the flu, and other times he sleeping because he drives alot of miles, like alot of you do, so you know how that is. Thank you for letting me post on here. Take care and stay safe. (boy, you know I'm a truckers wife LOL).

They liked what they heard, so what's the problem?

I'm in two Teamster 401ks and neither employer (RedStar or UPS) ever matched my contributions or a percentage thereof

uh

they want it all 251, they can't give up anything to gain anything, hell you guys don't get alot of things we get, so can't please them all

I'm retired on a Teamster pension. I make as much now as I did when I was working and I was making over $20 per hour when I left. And I took the wife option which means I get about 84% of what I would get otherwise. But my wife gets 2/3 of what I make after I die. I never contributed to the Teamster 401K because my wife does at her work. So anyone who does can add that income to their pension. You add my social security to my pension and I am making way more than I did when I was working. Now you tell me you could do better if you stayed out of the union. Give me a break.

Seems like she doesn't understand why they want a uniform contract. She may not understand that a local supplement can be negotiated on top of that. If UPSF is paying into the pension, it makes sense they would stop 401k contributions.

They were already paying into the pension along with the 401k. So we actually lose since the pension formula stays the same@!

If the she your talking about is me, well let me tell you something.....I understand quite well what's going on. I come from a family of past and present union guys and I do know what's going on. I think it's the other way around.....some of you guys don't understand. As far as a uniformed contract, that's not what I meant. The guys in CGO DON'T WANT TO WEAR THE UNIFORMS THEY ARE WEARING NOW. And as far as anyone in the Teamsters now,........ let me put it this way Teamsters will say anything to get guys to join. If a bunch of you guy's can afford to pay allot for insurance, which I'm sure allot of you can't, then go for it. Not both spouses are working in every household. The economy is not good at all. And the insurance is not good now and won't change when the uniuon get's in. I'm a diabetic and I can not go to any Advocate Hospital because these plans they do not take. I can not choose a doctor from a hospital that's an Advocate Hospital. A diabetic is considered a High Risk person and we need a Trauma Center and I can't go to one. It's a good thing I take very good care of myself, otherwise I'd be dead. You can't even choose the doctor or hospital you want, they do it for you. People are going to starve out there. People are going to lose houses out there. People are going to lose everything they have worked so hard for. Mark my words in time to come. It's not only Nightwalkers future.....It's my future too.

I have to inform all of you the the entire countrys ins. sucks. There are some 47,000,000 people with out any and the ones that do are going to keep paying more and more for less and less. This problem will not be solved by the Teamsters or UPS. It is a national problem, and can only be solved by the US government. Now that is a real nightmare! But it is the truth! Your med ins costs the company about $10,000 a year. And we pay only about 10% to 18% of that. Nothing is free. And ins. isn't either. Those employees that don't pay out of there pay checks directly, pay for it in other ways. The war is about ins cost, not about who pays for it.

I remember reading highlights of the Indy contract and the contribution rate for insurance was higher than in the NMFA because we have no contribution rate. But the pay scale was enough higher to more than make up for the difference. I more than apologize if my interpretation was wrong. But am I not correct? Also for Mrs. Nightwalker's benefit, my retirement insurance is about $1,000 a month cheaper than it would be if I hadn't been a Teamster. And you damned right I will say whatever to get more people to join the union. In numbers there is strength.

And how much per hour is contributed to a Teamster pension? There will never be a per hr. contribution to our pension under a contract, yet we are losing a 401k match which is huge in the long run. Monetarily, Some will lose alot and some will gain a little.

The pay scale for the NMFA and the new UPS Freight NMA are as follows UPSF 2008-.65, 2009-.70, 2010-.75, 2011-.80, 2012-.85, 2013-.90 total top salary in July 2013-$26.15 per hour Nmfa-2008-.50, 2009-.40, 2010-.45, 2011-.40, 2012-.45 $24.35 per hr. I will add .50 cents for 2013 for the nmfa making the top salaries at $26.15 for UPSF and $24.85 for NMFA $1.30 difference. $1.30x 40 hr per week= $52.00 x 52 weeks= $2704.00 per year. If you subtract the $150 per month ins( the cost for family under the model contract) from that you are left with $904 more than NMFA at UPSF. So at the end of everything UPSF employees get more than NMFA as far as pay and healthcost. The point is the health cost is always factored in one way or another. If I made any errors, please forgive me, I am a bit tired.

Then how can I go straight to bcbs and get ins. for $98 a month?

Then how can I go straight to bcbs and get ins. for $98 a month?

Show me the kind of coverage you get for $98 per month? right now I pay some $85.00 per month for a family. Ups pays about $9,000 of that cost per year, and this coverage is not the best. Yes, I know you pay $7.06 per week, but UPS kicks in the rest of the cost for your policy. If I were to go out and try to purchase med Ins. in the open market I would NEVER be able to find any coverage worth more than castastrophic coverage. Which would have a huge deductible and would only cover a very limited scope of health issues. Get me a copy of that policy for $98.00 per month. I would like to read the coverage you get.

Yes I know, the sky is falling, Please if you think by not joining the union things will get better is nothing more then waiting for the silver platter everyone was waiting for in the begiinning of this drive.

Yes the economy is shyte, and it will be for some time to come, it's time to weather the change, but to say a voice in the matter is nothing but a cliche at best you are dead wrong, this is nothing more then LAME DUCK politics, People have been giving in to this practice for the past 8 years , I realize you have a situation and for that I am sorry, but waiting for handout's is not the awnser iether. Did they all say at the end of the meeting THANK YOU MASTER?

Its about time we all get together and tell the GOV. and the company alike that this is what we want, not settle for the handouts within fairness . When the company gives you a contract and you do not like it VOTE IT DOWN send them back to the drawing board, we work for the biggest transportation company in the world and now the Teamsters is going to tell you, a dues paying member, this is what you are going to get, please , save the drama for someone who wants to swallow it. we have a voice now, USE IT. The first time around it may not be the best, for that I am in agreement, but if they can affors to give it too small package and if the can afford to give it too our new airfreight company, Whay the hell should we settle for less when UPS says we are making record #'s, the best #'s this company has ever seen.

Yeah what he said ....Go brother go!!! You think Americans for the most part have lost the idea that they matter????? ....I am reading a book about John Adams...And you talk about a differing mind set than we have today.....Wow....We are a bunch of wussies....They used to get it on and tell the authority of the day where to shove it....Where did we lose it?????

There is a book just published called "LIVE FREE OR DIE" it makes for good reading, I am not saying I am in full belief of it's teachings but brings the point home.

Here in america more and more people everyday are looking for a socialistic country, and have come to the conclusion that most on capital hill know best.

The problem is most on capital hill are being paid by big business to minipulate the laws for thier own agenda. What about our's, for this is what we pay taxes for, Its truelly pitiful. Having a voice is a benefit. I do not care what anyone says.

In my opinion where we "lost it" was the availibility of easy credit monthly payments 100% financing, basically we were put to sleep by our creditors.
Somehow the concept of saving and pay as you go was lost and our ability to stand up and say NO was lost as well.
The last time I went looking for a vehichle.(2000) The first thing out of the salespersons mouth was, what kind of vehichle are you looking for and the second was what kind of a payment are you looking for? Not how much do you want to spend. BTW I bought a 2 yr old vehicle payed for it and am still driving it.
When you/we are in the position of being a "borrower is slave to the lender" (Proverbs) then your/our ability to say no is greatly compromised.
You gotta stand for something or you will fall for anything.:smilie_132:

I agree, but when big GOV. gets into your personal business this in effect goes way to far. It is about time they stop playing with the monetary system in this country.

Hey, that's good stuff. I think you just verified what I was saying. I'm happy for all of you. I hope the disenchanted will some day appreciate this. Many years ago UPS package passed us on hourly rate and I never begrudged them for a minute. They earn every last cent.

As long as some of you are recommending books, let me add these: "Day of Reckoning" by Pat Buchanan and both of Lou Dobbs' latest books.
