FedEx Freight | Today’s announcement April 5

FedEx Freight will continue to provide less-than-truckload freight transportation services as a stand-alone company under Federal Express Corporation.

DO YOU BELIEVE THIS STATEMENT? WHY ARE WE SEPERATE? SELL MAYBE?

Keep the most profitable division separate but under the corporate umbrella. Combining Express and Ground will be a pain and expensive. Lots a facilities that will become redundant and sold off or lease expired. Equipment rebranding and such

Naah. Express and Ground are different in name only, and basically providing the same service. No reason for them to be seperate. LtL is an entirely different animal. No way to fold package freight into LtL, and Vice versa.

I see them getting maximum dollar for us while we are profitable, and cutting us loose.
Don't see them selling Freight LtL. Imo, this is no different than the National/Freight merger. Just a consolidation of operations to reduce cost by eliminating redundancy. They'll save tens of millions on consolidation of buildings alone.

Now, my question.
Is Express going to a contractor model, or will Ground employees be brought into the FX fold? That, imo, is the hurdle. A hybrid model will cause serious friction, and I don't see that as sustainable.

So they’re calling it “One Fedex”, but Freight will be separate. Isn’t that “Two FedEx’s”?

Does this have to do with the differentiation between the rail act and a trucking company, or are we to we sold?

And the rerouting. No more seeing a ground driver and express driver in the same area. One driver per area.
Also, is Raj out?
He was the key speaker.

Also, with this change, will they be reclassified?

FedEx, founded in 1971, was classified for labor purposes under the 1926 National Railway Act because of its focus on air freight. The railway act, which also covers airlines, aims to minimize the impact of local strikes on national infrastructure and makes unionizing more difficult.

That's a good question as well. Fx is classified as an Air Freight company.

so the company will be called Express, the ground name will go away but it will still be contractor based. We have had a few Express trailers drivers pop looking to see what we had available. They said their jobs will be gone within a year. It will probably be a slow combination by region. One my friends works at Freight and said they have had express drivers come in there also looking for future work.
