You know what. Here something for you guy's to think about.
No matter what i do ,I will alway have more ball and back bone than all of you put together. Why because i stand up to make a difference for the better of everyone not just me.
As for me to grow up. You guy's better wake in the morning walk up to the mirror and slap yourselves. And ask yourselve have i made this place a better place? Or I'm i living of someone else's ball's? Because according to you . Your making a good living. Well did that good living come from people like 666 or The guy's in Texa's?
Also the company always states that's it's competative. If you don't know what that mean's look up the word. I think someone somewhere set a standard.
And remember i stood up and changed the location I'm at for the better.
Oh yeah. Also I'm respected by 99% of the in the whole center.

Because i refused to work for a bunch of punk ass bullies and i straight up told them that too. So i didn't take the permanent positon of lead. But i never stopped doing my job. Which was to make sure the driver's we're taken care off.Safety first. Right? That's why they always brought stuff to the shop.

When this happened at our barn, I was shocked at the amount of driver that thought the union could guarantee our start times. It's amazing how much misinformation is out there.

I think the percentage of start time to flex is high than the union shop. Also if there is a layoff like UPS freight did early this year then bids are canceled and changed do to the amount of drivers working

The one thing that caught my eye..."650 dock workers hired". Wow, unfortunately for most of these people this is just a temporary way for them to make a few extra bucks. Most have no experience handling freight, and what little training they get here, doesn't help with the way freight is being handled. No doubt PT dock workers are needed, but it's clearly a revolving door. How about going back to using linehaul drivers who run 100 miles or less on the outbound dock?? Yeah I'm sure some places still utilize these people, but many service centers don't and won't let those who want to work their OB dock swipe in to do so. Seems to be a waste of experienced man power. Another waste of man power and time is live unloads at amazon....prior to our little falling out with them, we were able to drop trls, grap an empty and go. Now, we sit 2, 3 5 hrs waiting on them to unload ..., and it's no secret we're missing pickups or not getting freight delivered.....maybe work something out with them in regards to how many trls are spotted there? Way to many unproductive man hours lost at Amazon, and also at the numerous grocery store whses that require sort and seg. Nothing wrong with a little sort and seg...but when your at a place like that, with mulplite orders that break down into quadruple the skids, well....that is clearly wasted time. Maybe follow suit with most of our other LTL competitors..., refuse to do it, drop trls and let the shipper arrange the unloading. Yeah, I know it ties up trls, but it frees up drivers and tractors.....which leads to more freight getting delivered (On time) and less missed pickups. As far as overtime...., control it, use and provide it as needed....but most of all, pay it the "same" "system wide" for all full time employees.

Spot on. The issues you pointed out have always been there. What you point out as far as ways to save and improve come mainly from a drivers perspective. To address the issues that a driver points out would require those in charge to do something that is unheard of now: Listen. Learn. Cooporate.

If the management wanted to make LASTING long term improvements to this or any other LTL , there's plenty of great ideas and people willing to share them. All you have to do is stop talking for a minute and listen to the people that DO the work everyday. Meet the customers. Everyday. Deal with REAL WORLD situations. EVERYDAY. People who actually use the crappy software ( instead of reading how it works ) - people who follow BAD instructions and try their damnedest to make GOOD things happen. People with experience that know it won't work the way someone crunching numbers says it should.

Staring at computer screens and trying to reinvent the wheel seems like an enormous waste if you can can't utilize common sense in day to day business.

Even with ALL of the stupid mistakes management has made over the years , most of these companies that are ran poorly ( but they make money ) are able to keep going because of hard working everyday people with common sense... not some money grubbing guy in an office that doesn't have a clue.

I will agree with you we waste a lot of time and money at some places. I know we don't miss delivers or pickups due to Amazon. We build a trailer lately its been a pup then we call for an appointment. We only take accept appointments that are 1800hrs or later and at no time is any Amazon freight on a peddle route. We also have 3 grocery warehouses. I and other driver have sat there 3+ he's for one skid. The problem is no one has the balls to pull is out. I say give them 30mins past the appointment time then leave. I know that FedEx does not accept or deliver any freight to that grocery warehouse. We have had shippers call us and ask to pickup the freight at the FedEx dock and at least someone had the balls to say no. From what I hear FedEx don't put up with waiting around.
Sometimes we are own worst enemy.

We are no longer paid based on union anything. XPO LTL is competitive with FedEx freight, OD and Saia of the world. They are the standards that our wages are up against. And those are the companies that people have been quitting to go drive for. And there has been another big round of quitting going on. FedEx must be expecting to get hammered this season. People quitting everywhere.

You are confusing being respected and needing a union. It's awesome that you do right by your drivers and that they appreciate you. That doesn't translate into needing or wanting a union. Or do anything to change the prevailing thought that Jacobs is going to continue to cut cut and cut until none of us want to work here any more. That's why so many drivers are leaving. Moving on down the road is our job. It's our way of life. These CDLs are our career. Not the name on the door. I'm sorry you don't understand that. It's just a difference in perspective.

A lot of lies and fear and ignorance. But people see the writing on the wall. Getting jittery now.
