TForce | New Rules

You know something people, I am a smoker, and I am on the burge of quitting for 4 reasons, the wife, the kids, and UPS. And I truely feel like $hit.

I have but one thing to say about this issue, everything is the end result of negotiations, and remember, all of you, if you let the right to smoke go by without voting it in, what is next?

Do not think this is fair because you hate smoking, it's the principal behind the issue, today it is smoking, what will it be tomorrow?

I am sure we have all heard the cliche, you give an inch, they take a mile. I suggest you all keep that in mind when it comes time to negotiate.

Accelerator,
I'm not so sure this came about as a result of negotiations or hating smoking as much as it is a reflection of the litigious society we live in.
The Islamic Republic of Ohio has made it law that if you operate in what is considered a "shared work environment", ie a truck, that smoking is not allowed. And that was just part of the smoking ban that was passed.
I agree w/you that incrementaly all of our rights and freedoms are being taken away, but it started a long time before now. It is part of the "Nanny State" that we are being led into. The envronment that the government knows better than you what is best for you.
Look for a ban on burning wood in your fireplace/woodburner next, along with a "fat tax" for eating fast food.
As far as you quitting, do it as soon as you can, take it from an ex smoker, you will be amazed at 2 things one how much better you will feel and two how much money you will save. I bought a $13,000 motorcycle with the money.
Take care

As I said, the smoking is just another freedom we have all lost, As I am sure you know by reading your post, this is about principal, we are loosing our freedoms to a socialistic state, regardless as to whom we vote in office, this will progressively get worse as time progresses, I would not doubt if we loose guns eventually, the more and more gun controll we have, the worst it is going to get.

This society is getting to a point where individual freedoms is being lost, it's pitiful, and I am sure our forefathers is spinning in thier graves.

Individual freedoms is almost gone, and you are right, when are people going to wake up. Pretty soon the US will be the union of american socialist republic, or UASR, for short.

I agree with the non-smoking policy as far as in the trucks that might be assigned to a non-smoker. However, I agree there ought to be smoking areas for those like yourself to smoke. If smokers are suppose to be courteous to a non-smoker. Then non-smokers should be courteous as well.

It's only fair.

Why should I have to share a tractor with someone else who does not smoke? Its not fare to me that I should have to breathe all that fresh air!:hysterical: On a more serious note we have always shared tractors with drivers that are compatable to each other. Never had any problems. I have also seen drivers who complained about someone smoking in a tractor, But had no problem taking a tractor that is used by a smoker because it was a new tractor and did not complain then and there was plenty of other non smoking junks around. By the way, Im going to quit smoking if the price of ciggs goes up another 25 cents.:hysterical:

NJ tried passing a law that you could not smoke in your own personal vehicle if there was children under the age of 18 in the car. I don't know if it passed.
FL Passed laws that you can not smoke on the beach or boardwalk. Other states have followed suit. Are we really a free country? NO!!!!:smilie_132:

There is something in this non smoking policy for UPS. Its called saving money and production. Its not that they care about your Individual health. Non smokers will have better production in the eye's of UPS. Ups will also get cheaper premiums on there Insurance and health Insurance.

There's one rule that I am surprised has not come up yet.
It has to do with Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

BusterNite, you need to have a heart to heart talk with your cigarettes.
It sounds like they are in controll?

Your not going to allow rolled up paper with tobacco run your life are you?
I know from your posted comments you are so much stronger than that.

Also just think about what you could do with the extra money you'd save not buying those smokes.

Thanks I'm always glad to help out one of my co-workers.

I'm telling you if your cigarettes are controlling you.
You've got to give them a reamming out.
Do what I did to get rid of a 3 & 1/2 pack a day smoking habit.
I already posted this but I'm glad to do it again if I can help someone stop that costly nasty habit.

well now everytime I took one out of the pack, and was going to light it up.
I asked two questions.
Are you going to be in control of my life?
Whos going to be the boss this time,me,or you?

My cigarette never said one word,so I put it back in the pack.
After asking those dumb smokes those two questions for 6 weeks I threw the pack in the trash, and was free at last.

as far as all the money I'm saving instead of buying those rolled up pieces of paper with tobacco in them.
My wife is happy to have it.
when she's happy I'm happy as well.
it works for me.
