You know something people, I am a smoker, and I am on the burge of quitting for 4 reasons, the wife, the kids, and UPS. And I truely feel like $hit.
I have but one thing to say about this issue, everything is the end result of negotiations, and remember, all of you, if you let the right to smoke go by without voting it in, what is next?
Do not think this is fair because you hate smoking, it's the principal behind the issue, today it is smoking, what will it be tomorrow?
I am sure we have all heard the cliche, you give an inch, they take a mile. I suggest you all keep that in mind when it comes time to negotiate.
Accelerator,
I'm not so sure this came about as a result of negotiations or hating smoking as much as it is a reflection of the litigious society we live in.
The Islamic Republic of Ohio has made it law that if you operate in what is considered a "shared work environment", ie a truck, that smoking is not allowed. And that was just part of the smoking ban that was passed.
I agree w/you that incrementaly all of our rights and freedoms are being taken away, but it started a long time before now. It is part of the "Nanny State" that we are being led into. The envronment that the government knows better than you what is best for you.
Look for a ban on burning wood in your fireplace/woodburner next, along with a "fat tax" for eating fast food.
As far as you quitting, do it as soon as you can, take it from an ex smoker, you will be amazed at 2 things one how much better you will feel and two how much money you will save. I bought a $13,000 motorcycle with the money.
Take care
