I find it best for all to not clog up the area with it. It is enjoyable to sit back and toss a well earned jab once in a while though.

Let me muddy the issue a little more. If a business offers a special discount to union members or to seniors (as some retailers do) is that considered a "subsidy" to them? Just curious.
No it doesn't. Just means one business gets a tax break while another doesn't. Nothing wrong with that.
Government always picks and chooses tax breaks for everyone, not just business.
When government gives a break to one business but not their competitors then it is a subsidy. I guess all those Obama breaks that the wind and solar industry get arent subsidies either. I think the coal industry would have something to say about that

Those green energy companies are getting true subsidies. Because you can only pay taxes on profits. Well non of them are making profits, but yet they're getting Obama bucks. So those are true subsidies. They're getting money they didn't earn.

Costco and Wal-Mart are nothing alike. They serve a different demographic, and offer a totally different service, not town mention Costco charges us to shop there.
Costco specialises in bulk, and requires less employees, and focus more customer service. That allows Costco to pay more.

So you feel that a "discount" off a particular price is considered a subsidy? If you buy a car at a discount from the sticker price you're receiving a subsidy?
