These responses are pathetic. You should be ashamed. I implored you repeatedly in my post to speak to the masses and you still make it a personal battle. And didn't actually address anything, honestly. These are real issues. If you can't confront them. You will not convince anyone. You should ask upnorth to delete all three of these and go put your big boy pants on and try again. ou are acting like a 7th grader right now. It happens plenty. It's okay. Just own it. You'll be fine.
So, just for the record, this is insulting and demeaning language. It's pointless to deny it. We are discussing issues and you are hurling insults.
Your own posts indicate a high level of dissatisfaction from drivers and dockworkers. Your own post indicates you would like to have what UPSF has. Why, do you think, that UPSF has better compensation packages than we do? Do you think UPS decided on their own to be more generous than every other freight company? Or is it possible they were encouraged to offer these things as a result of contract negotiations with the union?
You made one accurate observation that the company had the upper hand and never blinked. The drivers got scared and blinked. I can't say that I blame them and I certainly will not argue with their decision. It was theirs to make and coupled with the fact that they are already one of the highest compensated companies in the industry. they chose the safe route. I may have done the same.
With respect to your comment that I am making this a personal battle, allow me to remind you that NONE of what I am fighting for will have any effect on me whatsoever. I'll be long gone, possibly even before the first contract is signed. So, one could say that all my efforts are made in the hopes that all the men and women I work with might enjoy the fruits of their labor instead of contributing to the obscenely excessive wealth of the elite members of the executive board.
When there are more men like me who understand the value they provide to these companies and choose to stand together for what is right and just, then you will see the benefits of strength in numbers and the effect it will have on any contract negotiations going forward.
This company's philosophy was and always will be divide, delay and conquer. As long as they have guys like you spouting the companies talking points and attempting to maintain the fear that exists in the hearts of working men, living from paycheck to paycheck, they will have the ability to drag this out indefinitely. There isn't one of them capable of doing what we do and they are quickly running out of new suckers to sit in our seats. If Mr. Jacobs has his way, those of you that remain will be sitting behind the wheel of a self driving vehicle, earning $10 an hour to monitor the on board systems.
Finally, one has to consider why the Teamsters chose to support the last, best and final offer from the company. It is likely that the Teamsters had reliable information that this was the best that they could do for the time being. The Teamsters may have determined that a strike was NOT in the best interests of the bargaining unit. The Teamsters may have felt that this was a battle that had to be conceded until the reinforcements arrive. With all that said, I applaud the union for keeping the best interests of their members front and center on this issue. Sometimes you concede the battle, lick your wounds and build support to prepare for the war ahead.
I hope this answers your questions!
