R&L | Our jobs out the window!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, but you won't have a job very long the way things are going.

I've seen this happen before at a company called Towne Air Freight. Ever heard of them? They pulled the same stunt R&L is doing...using leased power to move their freight. One day, the city drivers came back from their runs and were told they were being replaced by the lease-drivers. As each one returned, they cleaned out their trucks, turned in their uniforms and equipment, and were escorted off the terminal property by police. These were guys with 10, 15, 20+ years of service with the company. Gone just like that!

Sad to see R&L go down this path, but that's the way of the world, I guess. I know alot of good people who work there. My advice to you guys would be to get out while you can and start over again somewhere else because the writing's on the wall.

I was just woundering if rl is the first to use flex drivers or lease drivers how ever you want to call them, I don,t think so I,m pretty sure I,ve heard of some other companys using them, thats were rl got the idea from and there doing just fine. Any how I don,t think they will last long and we,ll be back to the way it was.

Yes companies use flex or temp drivers but they are hired under the same companies name. I don't know of any company that used a start up company to provide drivers for an existing co. If there was the out come was not good!!!!!! Lets see if i had a choice to work a guy that was making 24 bucks an hr and a guy making 16hr mmmmmmmmmmmmm................................

we can't get good drivers for 20 an hour to start. I think all these lease drivers are going to be Mexicans for this to work out, then they can fire our maintenance guy who also cuts the grass every week. Hasta la vista y buenas dias !

Paramont is R&L, the lease drivers will have the same uniforms and all,the reason for using a different name is that this way when it don,t work out or when there done with the lease drivers they can do away with paramont and not affect R&L. And as for them coming in and making you stay home while a lease driver comes in and runs your route is just crazy, because if that where it they would have already been doing that with that lower payed drivers that they hire in now, I mean thats basicly the same thing now, it all boils down to its his company and he can do what he wants, and if that was his plan he would have already done it who would stop him and why go through all the trouble of starting a lease company just to do what he wants to do.:smilie_132:

Or some porkchops who nows.I think who they hire for 16.20 well they could be alot more issues with accedents and how they don't even do amuch as we do becouse they can't find there way out of a wet paper bag.Nothing against someone trying to make a liven but get real the cost of liven and gas prices who can aford to work for 16.20 a hr I can't how bout you drivers.:hysterical:

That's what they have been doing for some time now at my terminal and many other in the North East . They will hold a Linehaul Driver in the city (Making less money) and use a Combo driver or Lease driver on the linehaul. It's happening right NOW at my Terminal:hide:

If the guys at the smaller barns only understood:1036316054:.................

we dont need no stinkin union, we just need to stick together like a family and schedule a nationwide walk out on a wed. or thurdays for 24 hours we will get our point accross.

they need to stop sponsoring Matt Kenseth (Car) and Jack Sprague (Truck) that will help them save money.

That would be the worst thing to do:chairshot: We all need the money, who has the time to just sit home:hide: Come to work, do your job & don't start a bunch of BS:smilie_132: All of the lazy workers , started this crap for all of the hard working employees. Be positive with co-workers & do your best !

Driver that is the best positive thing that I have heard. You and all of the hard working employees keep up the good work. And we all still need to look out for our selfs. We need to keep on rolling and looking out for the good guys to.And hopefully everything will go our way....:1036316054:

I wish you guys well, I got out and Im doing better than ever. I work for an outfit that pays time and a half after eight! They never even asked me to buy my own pallet jack. They even provide a uniform service and and provide us with Nextels. Its really sad the way the drivers that helped build the company are getting shoved out the door, but thats what happens when you work for a non-union outfit. Maybe they will close the book on R&L on Labor day like what happened at CF.

Is the run a bidded run that has to be posted after someone has left.

The line haul run is a run that was filled via a bid 10 month's ago and now the driver is being forced to do city becasuse they have an open city bid and are short, this has resulted in about a 50 dollar a day cut for the driver

Has everyone seen the video? I think it explains it pretty well. I am not concerned about my job. I am glad someone is doing somthing to secure our future in the uncertain times.

I haven't seen any video but I'm sure they will waste another 50 grand on sending one to each of us instead of having the TM get everyone to watch it at the terminal.

I was told that they're doing this to be able to compete with the likes of Fed-Ex and Con-Way who are cutting their rates so low just keep freight on the trucks that it barely pays for fuel. That way, they don't have to get rid of us or cut our wages, hence the bit about this being "to protect the drivers".

I want to think that our TM is playing square with us, but I still have my suspicions.

I think that is the same all around the terms you know
